Target
Install zsh to Ubuntu 12.04 LTS and set to show adage at login.
Install zsh
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install zsh
$ zsh --version
zsh 4.3.17 (i686-pc-linux-gnu)
Set zsh to default shell
$ echo $SHELL
/bin/bash
$ cat /etc/shells
# /etc/shells: valid login shells
/bin/sh
/bin/dash
/bin/bash
/bin/rbash
/usr/bin/screen
/bin/zsh
/usr/bin/zsh
$ chsh
Password:
Changing the login shell for username
Enter the new value, or press ENTER for the default

$ echo $SHELL
/bin/zsh
